Maintain Healthy Enamel

Posted on 6/6/2022 by Watermark Dentistry
Maintain Healthy EnamelMaintaining healthy tooth enamel is an essential practice for your dental health. It keeps your teeth healthy and strong to perform their functions. It also ensures that you have your dream smile when interacting with other people.

Drinking enough water

Water is essential for your dental health. It washes away all the acidic substances that may be harmful to your enamel, especially when they stay for long in the mouth. Water washes away bacteria in your mouth, thus keeping it clean. Ensure that you rinse your mouth with water after every meal.

Regular Brushing your teeth.

Using a soft bristle toothbrush is healthy for your enamel. It's important to brush your teeth at least twice a day. When brushing, ensure that you touch all the areas in your mouth, including your tongue, to access any lingering bacteria. Forcefully brushing your tooth can damage your enamel by breaking it; hence, our dentists recommend being gentle when brushing—brush at least for two minutes for good results. Ensure you replace your toothbrush after two to three months. When brushing, use fluoride toothpaste because it contains Minerals that result in a strong tooth and enamel. Fluoride helps in tooth cavities and decay prevention; therefore, you will have a healthy dental.

Limit taking acidic foods

Acidic foods can damage your tooth. Avoiding too much intake of acidic foods will keep your teeth enamel healthy. Drinking water after taking acidic food washes away all the acidic thus, leaving your enamel safe. Acidic foods reduce the duration of your teeth' enamel as they implicate their health conditions. Instead of taking too many acidic and sugar beverages, you can opt for healthy ones that provide calcium and minerals for your teeth.

Avoid brushing too soon and too often.

Brushing the teeth too quickly can wear out the enamel and gums. We advise against frequent brushing as it contributes to your teeth' enamel's wear and tear effects. It would be best if you never were quick to brush your teeth after eating; it's always good to wait for an hour and then brush. This is due to the production of oral acid during mealtime.
